Feb. 2018--Halong Bay, Vietnam. Misty and Moisty

A lifelong desire to see the beautiful, vegetation-covered limestone "karsts" in Asia brought us to a 2-night cruise on HaLong Bay, accessible from Hanoi. It was a few hours by bus, but very worth the time and expense to join a cruise on this gorgeous bay. Even though it was very misty, and we couldn't see all the scenery all the time, it was a lot of fun. The cruise ship was fairly small, with only about 30-40 guests.

Waiting for our boat.

A view from our cabin window. We stayed two nights in a very comfortable room.

Oops. This picture is out of order. We have just attended church in Ho Chi Minh City, and are outside waiting for a Taxi.

Outside the church meetinghouse. We attended a Sacrament meeting and a baptism in Ho Chi Minh City.

How cool that we had the Coffeys there who were serving a mission. We knew them from our service in Hong Kong. They were humanitarian missionaries in Hong Kong, coordinating Asian Area humanitarian efforts. They got home and put their papers in for another mission, this time to Vietnam.

Again, outstanding warmth and friendliness from the hotel staff in Hanoi.

Didn't we just see these beauties in Cambodia? They're following us, for some reason.

Okay, back to the cruise . . . this is the dining cabin on our ship.

A view from our deck.

A bit chilly, but nice for relaxation and watching the sights and sounds of the bay.

Stopped at a beach on one of the many karsts.

Delicious food for all meals.

Biggest surprise of our trip. Some of these karsts are hollow!! A massive cave, maybe 1800 feet in length.
